Solar Festival 2025

The Solar Festival has been bringing Brazilian culture to Zurich since 2019. The 2025 edition is expanding its program with a new thematic focus. The "Amazon Edition" focuses on the climate crisis and takes up the guiding theme of "Art and culture as catalysts for transformative awareness" in the face of global challenges. In order to address the urgency of environmental protection, the connection between culture, art and technology will be used as a means of raising awareness.

With the expansion of the program, the Solar Festival underlines the importance of the topic and the need for transdisciplinary cooperation. The focus is on the communication of indigenous knowledge and ecological resistance. The program includes concerts, performances, video mapping, virtual reality, films, workshops and debates.

The invited artists explore environmental issues, political art, gender, sexuality, Afrofuturism, decoloniality and intersectionality. In this way, they affirm the fact that the world's largest rainforest is hybrid: descended from both indigenous and black ancestors, urban and technological.

The Amazon edition is designed from the perspective of Brazilian society and in particular the women who live and work in this region. Solar invites the protagonists of the Amazon region who stand up for the preservation of the rainforest and local cultural expressions.
In partnership with the Amazônia Mapping Festival and the Mana Festival, the Solar Festival 2025 presents a cultural program based on the knowledge of the forest.
