Never been to a Roda de Samba before? Here’s what to expect. A Roda de Samba isn’t a concert you watch from a distance. It’s something you immerse yourself in. There’s no stage. The musicians sit in a circle (the roda), right in the middle of the audience: pandeiro, cavaquinho, percussion, and voices all blend together. Everyone around becomes part of the music—clapping, singing along, dancing shoulder to shoulder. In Brazil, samba has been experienced exactly this way for over a hundred years: not as a show, but as a shared ritual. Those who come with an open heart aren’t just part of the audience—they’re part of the circle.
And soccer? That’s an experience in itself. Brazilians don’t watch soccer quietly. The whole room sings, shouts, trembles, and cheers together—by halftime, strangers have become friends. Whether Brazil makes it to the final or not, you’ll experience what a big game feels like in Brazil—loud, emotional, full of joy, and a truly communal experience.

Straight from Paris to the roda: The Paris Samba Group brings together eight musicians with a deep passion for samba and pagode, as they originated in the rodas of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. With a repertoire ranging from Partido Alto classics to traditional pagode, the group is a fixture on the Brazilian scene in Paris and regularly fills the city’s historic concert halls. Their mission: to bring smiles, joie de vivre, and Brazilian warmth wherever a roda forms—and in July, it will form in Zurich.
