BaianaSystem

BaianaSystem is an audiovisual project that starts from Bahia and its ancestral heritage to exchange with what is produced in the world. With Afro-Brazilian rhythms, samba-reggae, rock, pop and popular events, especially carnival, as the main sources for their research, the group uses a variety of languages to translate their thoughts into art that encompasses cultural, political and social expressions. Bahia guitar, Afro-Brazilian percussion, electronic beats, videos, poetry and lyrics help to tell this story. Founded in 2009, the collective has already released five albums: "Oxeaxeexu" (2021), "Gilbaiana ao Vivo em Salvador" (2020), with Gilberto Gil, "O Futuro Não Demora" (2019), winner of the Latin Grammy in the Best Rock or Alternative Music Album in Portuguese category, "Duas Cidades" (2016) and "BaianaSystem" (2010), as well as performances with artists such as Margareth Menezes, Manu Chao, Olodum, Adrian Sherwood, Tropikilazz, Os Gilsons, Nação Zumbi and Elza Soares, among others. BaianaSystem has performed throughout Europe and in countries such as the USA, Japan and China and has participated in international festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Fuji Rock and Roskilde Festival, as well as the most important festivals in Brazil such as Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza and João Rock.
