João Bosco & Jaques Morelenbaum

João Bosco

Born in 1946 in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, João Bosco is a celebrated singer, guitarist and composer known for his remarkable versatility and profound influence on Brazilian popular music. Bosco was recognized early on by none other than the legendary bossa nova pioneer Antonio Carlos Jobim and has contributed some of the finest compositions to the Brazilian music scene.

He began composing and performing in the 1960s and quickly became a popular figure in his home country. His early work with the poet Aldir Blanc resulted in an extensive repertoire that is now considered a classic, and his collaboration with Elis Regina produced some of her best work.

Despite his growing international fame, which has earned him regular appearances at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, among others, Bosco remains deeply connected to Brazil. He remains true to his roots in classical samba and bossa nova while incorporating rock'n'roll, jazz and other styles.
